This beautiful, transparent variety of Optical calcite is often found naturally as cubes or rhombs, it was originally found in Iceland (hence its original name of Iceland Spar). It double refracts light, creating mini rainbows on its surface and looks beautiful displayed on a windowsill or somewhere where it will catch the light. Incredibly, Optical Calcite's formation - on a rhomboid plane - creates this natural geometric structure; this shape is entirely natural and unpolished! The formation of Optical Calcite in this geometric manner also often creates planes for rainbows to dance through within each piece.
